For the past few months, the Snapchat community has been buzzing with curiosity about the new Snapchat paid subscription - Snapchat Plus (also Snapchat +).
Many other apps, such as WhatsApp and Telegram, have implemented paid subscriptions. However, most social media apps offer their services for free. Snapchat decided to break the ice. They launched their paid subscription Snapchat+ which offers subscribers many exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features.
A few days ago, I subscribed to Snapchat+. In this post, I’ll cover everything you need to know about Snapchat Plus, what it offers, and show you how to get it. So continue scrolling.
Snapchat+ is Snapchat’s premium membership that offers users access to many features and perks that are not yet available to regular users.
As Snapchat explains, Snapchat+ helps users to customize their Snapchat experience. But the paid membership will also bring more revenue to the app.
The Snapchat Plus subscriptions offers the following features to Snapchat subscribers are:
Ghost Trails on the Map
The Ghost Trail allows you to see where your friends have been in the past 24 hours. You can only see their location history if they share their location and they have Snapchat+ available in their country.
Pin as #1 Best Friend
This Snapchat+ feature allows you to pin your friend as your #1 Best Friend on top of the chat. This way, you can always have their chat only tap away. You don’t have to be best friends with the person to pin them. However, you can pin only one person as a #1 Best Friend at a time.
Note: You get a red heart emoji next to your friend’s name in chat if you are best friends.
To pin a friend as your #1 Best Friend, go to Chat or Send To screen, press and hold on your friend, then select ‘Pin as your #1 Best Friend’.
Snapchat + Badge
When you get Snapchat+, you get a star badge next to your username on your profile so your friends know you are a Snapchat+ subscriber. When you activate the membership, the Snapchat+ Badge is off. To turn it on, go to your profile, tap on your Snapchat+ membership card, and toggle on the ‘Snapchat+ Badge’.
Story Rewatch Count
This feature tells you how many times your friends have seen your story. Snapchat tells you by default who has seen your story. However, if your friends open your story more than once, you won’t know. The Snapchat Rewatch Indicator tells you if someone has come back for seconds.
To turn on the Story Rewatch Indicator, go to your profile, tap on the Snapchat+ tab, and toggle on ‘Story Rewatch Count’.
Custom App Icons
Apart from in-app features, Snapchat+ allows you to customize your Snapchat app look with 30+ cool app icons. To change your app icon, go to your profile, tap on the Snapchat+ tab, tap on ‘App Icon’, and choose an app icon.
Friend Solar System
Snapchat+’s Friend Solar System ranks your top-eight friends based on your interaction in the app. When you are a Snapchat Plus user, you’ll see ‘Best Friends’ and ‘Friends’ badges with a gold ring around them on your friends’ Friendship Profiles.
Note: You can’t see your own Friend Solar System. You can only see what planet you are in your friend’s Snapchat Solar System. Also, to see your friend’s Friend Solar Systems, you and your friend must have a linked Bitmoji.
Priority Story Replies
When you reply to Public Stories posted by Snap Stars, your replies will be listed higher on the replies list. This way, your story replies are more visible to the creators and have a higher chance of being responded to.
Post View Emoji
Snapchat+ also lets you customize the emoji your friends see next to your name when they see a Snap you have sent.
To select a post view emoji, go to your profile, tap on the Snapchat+ tab, tap on ‘Post View Emoji’ and select an emoji.
More Bitmoji backgrounds
With the Snapchat+ subscription, you also get access to brand-new Bitmoji backgrounds that display on your profile. Go to your profile, tap the image icon in the Bitmoji header and select from the exclusive Bitmoji backgrounds. The Snapchat+ backgrounds have a ribbon with a star to tell them apart from the regular ones.
