TikTok has become one of the most used social media apps. Users enjoy editing their videos, trimming, adding music and popular sounds, and engaging in conversations through comments and messages.

While TikTok is famous for its short-form videos, which by their nature can be educational, fun, informative, and promotional, the platform also allows users to engage and communicate with each other through the TikTok DMs.

TikTok DMs allow users to send messages and videos between themselves. Users can also delete messages if they wish to declutter their inboxes.

Things you need to know about TikTok DMs

  • TikTok offers direct messaging only to registered account holders aged 16 and older. Parents and caregivers are able to set restrictions on this feature through Family Pairing.
  • Private videos can't be shared. You won't be able to watch a video if the creator changes the status from public to private after you share it in a message.
  • Your privacy settings allow you to control who is allowed to send you direct messages. Changing your direct message setting to No One will stop you from receiving direct messages. Direct messages are still accessible in your Inbox, but you cannot receive new direct messages there.

Wrapping Up

Deleting messages on TikTok is a simple process, but it’s important to note that deleting messages only removes them from your account.

If the recipient has already seen the message, it will still be visible in their chat history.
