TikTok is currently among the biggest social media platforms, and what distinguishes it from all rest is the fact that it’s a video-sharing-only app.

Hence, being unable to hear sounds while scrolling through your FYP will surely destroy the overall experience of the app.

The reason why this is happening can be due to several different reasons, the most common being that you haven’t given the app permissions to access your microphone and speaker.

However, if you’re sure you did, but the problem persists, there are other actions you can take to get rid of this annoying bug.

Why am I having the TikTok no sound issue on my iPhone, and how do I fix it?

It’s difficult to determine a single cause of why you’re having this issue. According to multiple user reports, multiple different reasons turned out to be the cause of the same problem. Hence, check out the different fixing methods below.

Method 1: Volume settings

This might sound quite simple, but make sure your volume settings are all the way up before you initiate to fix the problem with all other methods. Try turning the volume up while having the app opened, especially if you’re an iPhone user.

Method 2: TikTok Cache

Clearing the cache memory from the TikTok app can help get back the sound on TikTok. The cache memory is considered as ‘trash’ memory, so you don’t have to worry about losing your login information.

  1. Open TikTok, and click on your profile in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Tap on the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner.
  3. Find the ‘Cache & Cellular Data’ option, and tap on ‘Clear Cache’.
  4. Close the app, and launch it again to check if the issue persists.

Note: Android users can clear the cache memory on their phones by going to Settings>Apps>TikTok>Memory>Cache>Clear Cache.

Method 3: Update TikTok

If you haven’t updated the TikTok app in a while, this might be what is causing your TikTok videos to be muted.

Try updating the app to resolve the issue of TikTok muted videos.

  1. Open the App Store on your phone, and search for TikTok.
  2. Under the ‘TikTok’ name of the app, check for an update. If there is an update available, download and install it.
  3. After the installation has finished, check if the issue is gone.

Method 4: Reinstalling TikTok

If none of the other methods are solving the problem, delete the app, and reinstall it again. There might be some bug within the software that cannot be fixed, so this will give the app a fresh start. Make sure you know your username and password before doing so.

Method 5: Restarting your device

If the issue is due to a glitch with the software on your iPhone, not the TikTok app, consider restarting the device, and launching the TikTok app once again. Let your phone rest for a couple of minutes before turning it back on, and after you do, launch the TikTok app to see if the problem has been resolved.
