One of the most popular social media platforms worldwide is Instagram.

The platform is getting bigger because of its numerous features.

Instagrammers have recently been prompted to update their profiles with their birthdays. This should make the site safer and better and stop hackers and fake accounts from hijacking your account or impersonating you.

However, Instagram users have started reporting issues when trying to add their birthday, as Instagram prompts them.

Reportedly, several Instagram accounts were deactivated due to Instagram’s ‘Add Your Birthday’ error.

Even though adding your birthday is a new feature implemented by Instagram, it’s similar to all other information you add to your account - your name, number, email, etc.

Therefore, if you’re one of the Instagram users that are having issues with the ‘Add your birthday’ prompt, check out the step-by-step process in the article below to learn how to resolve it.

Why am I getting the ‘Add your birthday’ error on Instagram?

Most often, the issue lies in adding the wrong date of birth. Apparently, since most Instagram profiles are linked to Facebook accounts, the Instagram date of birth needs to be the same as the date on your Facebook account.

Many young people add a different date of birth for their Facebook accounts because Facebook doesn’t allow underage users to become a part of their network. Hence, the date they select on Instagram doesn’t match the one to the linked Facebook account.

Therefore, make sure that the birth you select is the same date you previously set on your Facebook account.
