To stop your Snap Score from going up:

  1. Stop sending Snaps. Instead, send regular text messages in the Snap chat.
  2. Use another social media app to interact with your friends.
  3. Be inactive on Snapchat or don’t use the app altogether.

Snap Score calculates your activity on Snapchat. Snappers are striving to increase their Snap Score, but you might be curious if you can stop your Snap Score from going up.

The social media app states that the Snap Score is a “super secret special equation”. However, we know that it depends on the number of snaps you send and receive, the number of stories you’ve posted and seen, how many friends you have, how many ‘Discover’ videos you’ve watched, and the number and length of your Snap Streaks.

However, if, for whatever reason, you want to know how to stop your Snapchat score from going up, continue reading to find the answer.

How to stop your Snap Score from going up

You already know that using the Snapchat app and sending and receiving Snaps increases your Snapchat score.

However, there are several things you can do to stop your Snap Score from going up:

  1. Stop sending Snaps. Instead, send regular text messages in Snapchat.
  2. Use another social media app to interact with your friends.
  3. Be inactive on Snapchat, or don’t use the app altogether.

Can you decrease your Snap Score?

Unfortunately, there’s no option to manually decrease your Snap Score in Settings. Also, removing friends from your friend list won’t lower your Snap Score – they just won’t be able to see your Snap Score.

All your activities on Snapchat either increase your Snap Score or don’t affect it at all.

However, you can do certain things to slow down the rate of increase in your Snapchat Score.

  1. Limit the number of snaps you send daily and refrain from opening snaps you have received from other people.

Note: Your Snap score will not increase if you message people.

  1. Another thing you can do is create another Snapchat account and start building your Snap Score from scratch. You can have multiple Snapchat accounts as long as you use different email addresses.

How to hide your Snapchat Score

If your purpose is to hide your Snap Score from people that are not your friends on Snapchat, you can adjust the settings so that only your friends can see your Snapchat activity.

  1. Open the Snapchat app.
  2. Tap on your Bitmoji in the top-left corner of the camera screen to go to your profile page.
  3. Tap on the ‘Settings’ icon in the top-right corner.

Tap on the 'Settings' icon

  1. Scroll down to the ‘Privacy Control’ section and select ‘Contact Me’.

Tap on 'Contact Me'

  1. You’ll see two options to choose from - Everyone and My Friends.
  2. Select ‘My Friends’ to change your profile visibility.

Select 'My Friends'

Now only your friends will be able to see your Snap Score.

How to hide your Snap Score from friends

The only way to hide your Snap Score from friends is to remove them from your friends’ list or block them.

  1. Open the Snapchat app and tap on your Bitmoji to open your profile.
  2. Scroll down and tap on ‘My Friends’.

Tap on 'My Friends'

  1. Find the person from whom you want to hide your Snap Score.
  2. Tap and hold on to their username.
  3. Select ‘Manage Friendship’.

Select 'Manage Friendship'

  1. Tap on ‘Block’ or ‘Remove Friend’.

Select ‘Block’ or ‘Remove Friend’

If you block a person, they won’t be able to see your entire Snapchat profile, including your Snap Score. If you remove them from friends, the person can still see your profile, but they won’t be able to see your Snap Score.

You can also block or remove someone from friends in another way:

  1. Open Snapchat and tap on the chat icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Scroll down to find the chat with the person or search for them by their username.
  3. Tap on their Bitmoji, which will take you to their profile.

Tap on a friend's Bitmoji

  1. Tap on the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner of their profile.

Tap on the three dots

  1. Select ‘Manage Friendship’.

Select ‘Manage Friendship’

  1. Tap on ‘Block’ or ‘Remove’.

Tap on ‘Block’ or ‘Remove’

Although you can’t directly stop your Snap Score from going up, decrease it, or hide it from your friends in the Privacy Settings, you can adjust other privacy settings such as who is in your friends' list, who can contact you, view your story, see your location and see you in Quick Add.
