What a frustrating feeling it is when you buy a new set of earphones and the rubber-tipped earbuds don’t fit or hurt your ears.
Apple has come up with a solution for this problem with their AirPods Pro. Each AirPods Pro set includes three different sets of ear tips of different sizes so that you can adjust them to your ears.
The AirPods Pro also have a fit-test feature (Ear Tip Fit Test) that analyzes whether you’ve used the right ear tips and helps you figure out which size fits you with the help of an internal microphone.
However, users have found that it’s not so clear how to remove the AirPod ear tips if you want to change or clean them.
In this guide, we’ll share the steps on how to remove the AirPods Pro ear tips.
The AirPods Pro earbuds’ silicone tips act like a seal when you insert them into your ears, creating a noise cancellation effect. These small silicone ear tips also keep the AirPods Pro from falling out from your ears.
You should always remove these tips if you want to clean them or the earbuds. This is how to do it:
Your AirPod Pro earbuds come with medium-size ear tips when you take them out of the box. If your AirPods feel loose, choose a bigger size. If they feel tight, choose a smaller size.
If you can’t decide which ear tip size is best for you, you can try the Ear Tip Fit Test. Remember that in order to do the test, your iPhone needs to be running iOS 13.2 or later.
Note: Before you start the test, make sure you turn your Bluetooth on and connect your AirPods Pro to your iPhone.

The best way to clean the AirPods is to use a slightly damp or dry lint-free cloth or a cotton swab. If you want to clean ear tips, first take them off the AirPods and soak or rinse them only with water. Use a microfiber cloth to dry the tips before putting them back on your AirPods.
First, make sure to use the correct ear tip size. Your AirPods Pro case includes three tip sizes: Small, Medium and Large, but you can also buy replacement tips.
If your AirPods Pro earbuds fall out, replace them with larger size ear tips. If the largest size still feels loose, you might also try:
