If you’re wondering whether it’s possible to turn off closed captions that show up on Facebook Live videos, and on videos that show up on your feed, we have some good news - you can.

Once a video gets uploaded on Facebook, the auto-generated captions are created and show up automatically, and this setting is enabled by default for all Facebook users.

However, since these closed captions are not transcriptions, they can be wrong at times, especially if the audio quality is not top-notch.

Hence, a big number of users don’t really like the captions feature and wish to turn them off.

Luckily, Facebook allows users to turn this feature off in their Facebook account settings, and we’ll explain all the steps.

Join us in the step-by-step process of disabling captions on Facebook in the article below, and get back to enjoying Facebook videos in no time!

How do I turn off captions on Facebook?

Facebook’s captions show up when a video is muted. However, if you play the sound on a video, the captions will disappear.

Additionally, Facebook gives users a choice to keep the captions on, even the sound on a video is playing.

Before we get into details about completely disabling Facebook captions, you need to know that disabling automated captions cannot be done for videos posted in Facebook Groups.
