How to hide and unhide chat messages in Viber

The hide and unhide Viber feature is a great option for you to ensure that your messages will remain private. In this quick guide, you’ll take a little tour and learn how you can hide and unhide your Viber chat messages. Stay tuned, the process is quite easy.

1. Open the Viber app and go to the chat screen feature.
2. In the Search tab, type in the name of the chat/person you want to hide.
3. For iOS device users: Swipe the chat to the left and choose ‘Hide’ from the options.
4. For Android users: Press and hold the chat you want to hide and select ‘Hide Chat’.
5. A pop-up window will come out for you to enter a 4-digit pin code and from then on, that chat’s messages will be hidden.

If you want to unhide that chat, again follow these simple steps:

1. Open the Viber app and go to the search bar.
2. Once there, enter the 4-digit pin code you put in to hide the chat.
3. Swipe left or tap on the chat and on the gear icon that is at the top-right corner of the screen.
4. Scroll down and look for the option ‘Unhide this Chat’.
5. Then, enter the 4-digit pin code and your chat messages will be visible once again.

How to see hidden chat messages in Viber

Unlike the option for secret chat messages, the feature for the hidden chat messages allows your message logs to stay as long as you want. So, if you no longer need stealth and you want to make the chat reappear in the active chat list, the steps are the following:

1. Go to your Viber app and open it.
2. Look for the search icon and enter the name of the chat/person whose messages are hidden.
3. A pop-up window will come out, requesting the 4-digit pin code.
4. Another way you can do this is to go to the search bar and type in the 4-digit pin code and the hidden chat will come right below.

Bonus tip on what to do in case you forgot the 4-digit pin code/ password

If you are not sure that you will remember those 4 digits that you put as a pin code for unlocking your hidden chat, don’t worry at all. You simply need to reset that pin code, which will take only a few seconds. Here are the steps to do so:

Go to the program menu and pick ‘Settings’.

Next, select ‘Privacy’ and scroll down to ‘Hidden Chats’.

4. Choose ‘Reset PIN’ and just click on ‘OK’.

Now, you are all set. No one will be able to access your messages except you. Remember, you can always go back to this option and hide or unhide whenever you like.
