Whether it’s a 15 minute or 4-hour drive to the place you need to reach, not playing music while driving is not an option for all of us! Spotify, one of the greatest music streaming platforms in the market currently, has a feature that changes the entire structure of the app once your phone connects to your car.
Spotify Car Mode or Car View Mode is a feature that Spotify offers to its users in order to make the app safe to be used while on the road.
In order to switch to Car Mode, you’ll need to connect your phone with your car through a Bluetooth connection. This feature is available for all Spotify users, meaning even those who do not use Spotify Premium will be able to use it. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to turn the feature on.
After doing this, you successfully enabled Car Mode, and your app will look a bit different, for example, you’ll have larger buttons, which will make using the app while driving a lot easier, and a lot of similar features.
In case you don’t like Car Mode, since it automatically switches once your phone connects to your car via Bluetooth, it can be easily switched off.
If you enabled Car View Mode in Spotify and you’re not satisfied, you can turn it off by following the same steps as above.
Once you’ve finished this, Car mode will be disabled and will not be making the automatic changes further on, you can keep using your app as you usually do.
Spotify confirmed that they were planning on removing the Car Mode feature from the app completely. On a forum post, Spotify announced working on another similar feature - but until then, they suggested for users to move to Google Assistant or Siri.
Spotify also announced their newest product - "Car Thing".
The "Car Thing" is currently only available for Premium users, but all users are on a waitlist. Non-premium users will not be able to order the product for now.
