Chromebooks are great for their portability and simplicity, but sometimes you need a little more screen real estate. That's where rotating your screen comes in handy. Whether you want to show something off to a friend or just make better use of your Chromebook's display, here's how to rotate your screen on a Chromebook.
There are two easy ways you can rotate or flip the screen on your Chrome OS laptop:
Below, we’ll present both ways.
The easier way to rotate the screen on Chromebook is to press CTRL + Shift and the Refresh key on your keyboard. Each time you press the keys, the screen will rotate 90 degrees clockwise.
Note: If you don’t know what the Refresh key looks like, it’s the key that looks like a circle with an arrow on it, located just above the numbers 3 and 4 on your keyboard.
The first time you press that key combination, you'll see a popup asking you if you want to rotate your screen. Click on ‘Continue’.
Another way you can flip your screen on Chromebook is in the system settings.
If you want to have more control over rotating your Chromebook screen and if you prefer to set a single rotation to use all the time, you can do it in the Settings menu.
If your Chromebook is a 2-in-1, and your screen is turned all the way around in a tablet position, the Orientation drop-down box will be dimmed.
To be able to select an orientation, flip back the screen into laptop mode. This happens because Chromebooks in tablet mode override the orientation in Display settings.
These methods of rotating your screen also work if you have a second screen.
The rotation orientation is controlled by the location of the cursor, so to rotate your second screen, just move your cursor to it
Also, each display has its own tab when you go to Settings > Devices > Displays. Click on either tab to set the orientation of each screen.
Note: Screen orientations don’t have to be set the same on different screens.
