Reddit - the Internet’s major conspiracy theories platform, is counting 430 million users, and the numbers are going up.

The reason behind this is, for whatever weird and oddly specific question you might have at a point in life, you’re going to find the answer on Reddit.

On the other hand, posting and commenting on Reddit is irreversible. What we mean by this is, once you’ve posted something, the post stays there, forever.

Reddit is connected to plenty of other sites, so the information that once goes out on Reddit, gets intertwined with plenty of other websites on the Internet.

However, we crafted a guide to help you delete your Reddit account, so none of your employers, family, or friends find your dark side out on the internet.

The process of deleting Reddit information

As we mentioned, posts and comments on Reddit are constantly being shared on other sites besides Reddit, and even if you delete everything you’ve ever posted on the platform, it is possible that it might be found somewhere.

Deleting your account from Reddit will not remove your comments and posts, unfortunately.

Comments from deleted accounts are only labeled as [Deleted], meaning the account that posted the comment no longer exists - but that’s about it.

In order to keep yourself as anonymous as possible on Reddit, make sure to not use your real name, avoid sharing any personal information, and do not mention real names of companies/employers, family, friends, acquaintances.

How to deactivate your Reddit account

Before we start the process of deleting a Reddit account, you need to bear in mind that Reddit has named the deleting section - deactivation.

Rest assured, however, once you’ve deactivated your account it will no longer exist as an active account, and you won’t be able to access it, it does not have the same meaning as with platforms such as Instagram or Facebook.

To deactivate your Reddit account, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the Reddit website using your credentials.
  2. Open the ‘Account Settings’, and scroll down until you find ‘Deactivate Account’ at the bottom, labeled in red.
