We know that using the mobile app is the best way to get the best out of the app, but deleting a Venmo account can’t be done from a mobile device.

How do I transfer my funds?

Before completely getting rid of your Venmo account, you’ll need to transfer your funds. Transferring your funds can be done from the mobile app. Follow these steps:

1. Sign in to your account in the Venmo app by typing in your username and password.
2. In the upper left corner, click on the ‘You’ blue icon.
3. Under your profile picture, tap on ‘Add or Transfer’.
4. Transfer the whole amount you currently have on your account.
5. You can choose whether you want the transfer to be ‘Instant’ (includes a fee) or in ‘1-3 business days’ (without fees).
6. Type in the information of the bank account where you want your funds to be transferred.
7. Confirm by clicking on ‘Transfer’.

If you didn’t choose the ‘Instant transfer’ option, you’ll need to wait 1 to 3 business days for your withdrawal to be completed. After your transfer is done, and you have no funds left on your account, you’ll need to log in from the web to proceed to delete your Venmo account.

How do I delete my Venmo account?

As we mentioned, deleting a Venmo account cannot be done from the mobile app. Log into your account using your desktop computer or laptop. After you’ve logged in, follow these steps to proceed to close your account permanently:

1. Check for any incomplete Venmo transactions. In case you have a transaction that hasn’t gone through, you will not be able to delete your Venmo. Click on ‘Incomplete’ on the homepage, and scan through your transactions to make sure everything is good.
2. Now, select ‘Settings’.
3. Under the ‘Profile’ section, at the bottom of the page, click on ‘Close my Venmo Account’.
4. You will be asked to review and download your latest statement.
5. Click on ‘Next’.
6. Type in your email address, and you’ll need to wait for a confirmation email from Venmo containing your transaction history, and after that, your account is officially closed.

If you did not receive an email after you click ‘Close Account’, wait a bit longer. If you don’t receive anything, consider contacting Venmo through email or on one of their phone numbers. You’ll need your account information, and they will help with deleting your account.
