Although Amazon doesn’t require you to enter your phone number when creating an account, you can use it in addition to your email address to sign in to your Amazon account or reset your password when you’ve forgotten it.

How to change your phone number on Amazon from a web browser

  1. Go to the Amazon website and log into your account.
  2. In the top right corner, hover over your name and click on ‘Account’.

  2. Click on the ‘Edit’ button next to your phone number.

  1. Type in your new phone number underneath your old one and click on the ‘Continue’ button below.

  1. You’ll see a Verification Required pop-up letting you know that a text with a One Time Password (OTP) has been sent to your mobile phone number with a six-digit password.
  2. Enter the OTP in the field and click ‘Verify’.

  1. On the next page, you’ll see your old and new phone numbers. Enter your password to complete the change and click ‘Continue’.

You will receive a verification email on the email address associated with your Amazon account notifying you that your mobile phone information has been updated.

How to change your phone number on the Amazon app

The steps for changing your phone number on the Amazon app are the same as on the web browser.

  1. Open the Amazon app on your phone.
  2. Tap on the profile icon in the bottom left corner.

  1. Type in your new phone number and tap ‘Continue’.
  2. A One Time Password (OTP) has been sent to your mobile phone number with a six-digit password.
  3. Enter the OTP in the field and click ‘Verify’.
  4. On the next page, you will see both your old and new phone numbers. Enter your Amazon password and tap ‘Save changes’ to complete the update.

Again, you will receive an email from Amazon informing you that your phone number has been updated.

If you wish to delete your phone number without adding a new one, just go to Your Account > Login & Security > tap or click ‘Edit’ next to your phone number, and tap or click ‘Delete’ next to your current phone number.

A pop-up screen will ask you if you are sure that you want to delete your phone number. Tap or click ‘Yes, Delete’.
